PCF Provides Meals to Montgomery County First Responders and Senior Citizens

During this period of COVID-19 quarantine, the Progress Club Foundation is doing great work to contribute and to show gratitude to the local Montgomery County community.

In the past two weeks, the Progress Club Foundation, in partnership with Nourish Now, organized and delivered meals to both the Rockville Fire and Police Departments. We did this to thank all first responders who continue to put themselves at risk by facing COVID-19 head on so that the general public does not have to. It is our hope that by publicizing our efforts we will generate even more participation in our future endeavors to show support to our police officers and firefighters. We cannot thank them enough.

But it's not just the heroes on the front lines we need to draw attention to, we also need to do all we can to protect the most vulnerable among us. It is no secret that COVID-19 has impacted older generations more so than younger ones, which is why we also provided and delivered meals to the Rockville Senior Center in Rockville, Maryland, and Willow Manor, a senior living apartment in Germantown, Maryland.

PCF Executive Director David Meyers emphasizes “We will continue to do all we can to assist and support these organizations who need all the help they can get. We welcome donations to help support our plans to deliver meals every week to various organizations in Montgomery County.”

Since our founding more than 100 years ago, we have provided ongoing financial support to such important local organizations as Leadership Montgomery, Stepping Stone Shelter, Nourish Now, Hero Dogs, Casey House Hospice, UMMTR (suicide prevention) and many others.  In the last few years alone, more than $75K has been donated to these groups as well as many national ones, including Purple Heart, Toys for Tots, the American Lung Association and Children’s Miracle Network.

To contribute to this great cause, please send a tax-deductible contribution to the Progress Club Foundation at 1610 East Jefferson Street, Rockville, MD 20852 or you can donate on our website https://www.progressclub.org
